Opened in 2007, the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge Jerome L. Greene Family Center offers lodging at no cost for cancer patients being treated in Manhattan. Hope Lodge New York City is an eco-friendly facility that offers 60 private guest rooms in a home-like environment. Each guest floor includes a community kitchen and dining area, a quiet lounge and laundry facilities. Each guest room includes a private bath (with shower seat), one king or two twin beds, ample closet space, individual heating and cooling units, personal refrigerator (for medication), cable television, local telephone (with multilingual voicemail and wake-up call options), and wireless internet access. The main floor includes a large lounge with a fireplace and piano, a family visitation room, meditation space, demonstration kitchen, computer resource center (with internet access and printer), library, and an outdoor terrace.

Extended Stay America has partnered with the American Cancer Society to provide 10,000 free nights and 10,000 discounted nights in its hotels to cancer patients who must travel to another city to receive treatment. The donation will expand the Society’s Guest Room program, which offers free and discounted rooms to patients and caregivers, offsetting costs associated with living away from home. Extended Stay America offers spacious suites, a fully equipped kitchen with a full-sized refrigerator, microwave oven, stovetop, toaster, coffee maker, cooking utensils, dishes and cutlery, free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs with premium channels, on-site laundry facilities, and a free grab-and-go breakfast. Guests also receive unlimited local phone use and personalized voicemail, pet-friendly accommodations, and fitness centers. All suites in this hotel are non-smoking.
